Parking Lot Turtle

Not sure if this is a young snapping turtle but at my daughter’s daycare they come up from the pond to lay eggs and scare away the kids. This one was only maybe 3×6″ compared to some giants that look like garbage can lids.

This is not a snapping turtle. It is an eastern Painted Turtle. They are quite harmless as long as you don’t agitate them too much. Snapping turtles have a rougher shell and don’t have any bright colors on them.
