Years ago I use to hunt ducks, I never killed one but I really wanted too.  Then one day I was minding my own business when I found a few baby mallard ducks that were only a few days old and they didn’t have a mother.  With tears in my eyes I adopted them and my love for mallard ducks started.

The baby ducks stayed with me for a few months until they grew their primary flight feathers (second and third set on their wings) and at that point I gave them to a friend of mine that had a proper pond to keep them in.  Lol, at the time I was keeping them in a kids swimming pool……..the small 4′ round type of swimming pool.  Oh how I don’t miss cleaning their pool and moving their fenced in area around my yard twice a day as they filled both with duck poop.  I do miss moving my lawn with 4 ducks walking behind me in line like I was their mother.

No clue why I felt the need to share that……..no clue at all………here are a few pictures of some baby ducks that I took at Slater Park in Pawtucket Rhode Island.

Since I was a little kid throwing rocks at bees nests they have always hated me.  I have sworn for years that all of the bees around the world have a picture of me hanging up in their living room and they use it to throw darts at.  I can be walking along minding my own business and a random bee will fly along and sting me while chanting something like “payback is a real bitch m-fer”.

Now all of that is behind me, thanks to nutri-system, Jenny Craig, and penis enlarging pills, I am at peace with the bees.  Oops I almost forgot finding Jesus Christ as my lord and savor……… Ok, I’m kidding about all of that stuff……..  About a year or so ago I stopped killing anything that was not biting me and my curse went away.  Now I can walk right up to a bees nest and they will invite me in for tea and if we strike up a good conversation they will let me stay for dinner and maybe a movie or two.  On a few occasions they have even shared their peace pipe with me but I recently found out they lace their herb with opium and that might explain some recent lack of motivation on my part.

Here’s a picture of a hornet that I took the other day………this was taken with a 105mm macro lens about 6 inches from the bees head…….handheld………standing on a ladder with crappy light.

Yesterday I saw a baby robin on my street and I rushed over to take pictures of it but…….it was dead.  So……I figured screw it who will know the difference……….except it’s head was missing.  I toyed around for a while with thoughts of doing some sort of weird pictures with a Barbie head but quickly figured that someone would just assume assume that I used photoshop which I don’t even own.

Fast forward to today– a baby robin was in my back yard and allowed me to get within a full frame shot (almost no cropping) of it to take a bunch of pictures before it flew a few feet away.  It’s mother flew over a few times to feed it but those pictures didn’t work out so well………..  On a side note, my daughter helped me dig up worms for the mother but we were not lucky enough to get any feeding pictures.

Note- Both pictures show the exact same baby robin, the second picture looks like he has darker feathers since his chest feathers don’t show in the picture.

Finally after returning from Jamaica 6 weeks ago I’m caught up on my postings for my project 365.  While I was taking pictures everyday getting around to posting them was more of a once a week or once every other week task.  At that point I couldn’t tell what days I took what so I just selected the images at random.  Oh well, at least I’m caught up now.
